Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She often appears for CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. The station meteorologist was employed as an in-house meteorologist at local stations for three years in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to becoming a part of CNN. She's covered everything from hurricanes, blizzards, flooding events, and wildfires. In fact, she received an Emmy award for her coverage of Dorian, the hurricane that struck the Bahamas in 2019. Dorian which struck the Bahamas in the year 2019. Her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, in which over 350 tornadoes were reported in the Southeastern United States over a duration of 4 days, with 200 of them that occurred on the 27th of April was nominated as well for Emmy. With her expertise in environmental science, she's reported on earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural catastrophes, in addition to climate change stories. Chinchar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a part of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
