Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is also an author. She's the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist television host, and proprietor of the independent liberal online newspaper The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she moved to England at the age of 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student to graduate, she was voted to the presidency of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer after graduation as well. When The Huffington Post launched a several years afterwards, she was able to create an online voice platform which included criticisms about political events. Her fame brought in a variety of famous contributors to share their views on politics, news and culture. Arianna became famous during 2003 when she ran independently in a recall campaign in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of an Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential female in media in 2009, and Guardian also ranked her on the Top 100 Media List during the same year. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and the post was made president by the media company. It included a variety of AOL properties at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos journalist father who was also a business consultant. The couple was close to her father, but it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her. From her childhood she displayed ability to lead that has become well known. When she was 16 she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the first woman who was elected president. In 1972, she earned a master's degree in Economics. The years that followed her graduation, she worked as an anchor on television and a columnist. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She began writing books after obtaining his assistance in editing.
