Fawn Mckay
Fawn McCay, born at Ogden Utah September 15, 1915. Fawn is a member of the Mormon Church's longest-running family, was able to combine her literary abilities and outstanding research skills into a brilliant biography on Joseph Smith. No Man knew My History appeared in 1945. The title comes from the funeral sermon delivered by Joseph Smith, the creator of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. The preacher shocked the audience when he said telling his audience: "You don't even know my name. You have never known my feelings." No one has ever known about my past. It's impossible for me to reveal it. Fawn, a 29-year-old woman said: "Since that moment of truthfulness, three or more writers have taken on the challenge." Some have attacked him, others have praised him, a few have experimented with diagnosing him. The problem isn't that documents are lacking however they are fiercely contradictory. It is a difficult job to find these records, separating first-hand accounts from the third-hand versions and then combining Mormon accounts with those of non-Mormon people to form a cohesive collage. It's both thrilling, as well as instructive. Fawn brodie was professionally committed to her work. Her work in research and writing earned her fame all over the world: Thaddeus Stephens. Scourge of the South (1959) The Devil Drives. Thomas Jefferson. An Intimate Historical Document (1974) and later posthumously Richard Nixon.
